Urbanism Film Night #1: The Human Scale

  • Charleston Civic Design Center 85 Calhoun Street Charleston, SC, 29401 United States (map)

Design Division is partnering with Urban Land Institute (ULI) and American Institute of Architects (AIA) to host a bi-monthly series of film screenings about urban design, architecture and development.  The goal of this series is to support and elevate the urban design dialogue in Charleston, especially among practitioners directly involved with urban change. (Space is limited to 25 people - register online at ULI.)

The first film is "The Human Scale", a documentary about the work of urbanist Jan Gehl.

Synopsis: The Danish architect and professor Jan Gehl has studied human behavior in cities through 40 years. He has documented how modern cities repel human interaction, and argues that we can build cities in a way, which takes human needs for inclusion and intimacy into account.

Doors open at 5:30, film begins at 6:00. Popcorn and other light refreshments will be provided.
